New work at Detroit’s historic Mariners Church included updating a first-floor space into a music and meeting room, plus creating a storage and dressing room for clergy on the lower level.
The music room restoration included new ceiling and soffit lighting systems, plus cabinetry for storage.
A wall with windows and paneling was added to enclose the room from the street entrance.
An interesting addition to this project involved creating a cover for electrical access panels from a historic hand-carved panel that was gifted to the church.
An otherwise empty wall with metal panels now honors the craftsmanship of this element and allows easy access when needed.
On the lower level, the new vestry was carved out of two smaller spaces.
GPH Services provided new structure to enable the removal of a load bearing wall, plus new cabinetry, new lighting and a new exterior window.
